Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name.

Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits —

who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,

who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,

who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. (Ps. 103:1-5)

Praising God not just with my lips, but with all my inmost being — the place where I really live and think and am — makes me fully realize the benefit package of being in Christ, and having Christ living in me.

In Him I have forgiveness, even when I find it hard to forgive myself. In Him I have the ultimate healing from the ills of this world and my own human weakness.

In Him, I can be elevated above the depths of despair that sometimes sweep over me when I see the condition of the world around me. I can be lifted when I remember that He will never leave me or forsake me, and that there is an eternal home with Him waiting in heaven for me.

In Him, I am treated royally to His love and compassion; no king or queen gets more of His care and attention than I do.

He satisfies my desires with good things, things that really matter: a sense of my worth to Him, and the power to see that worth in others. He makes me rich by giving generously from the boundless stores of His own love. He teaches me to multiply his investment of love in me by spending it at every opportunity.

His Holy Spirit in me gives me the potential to know the peace that passes human understanding.

These good things — these God things — peel away the weight of the world and its constant trials. My burdened spirit is freed to soar as I rejoice in the One who refreshes and renews me with the happy heart of a child of my Father.

He is the ultimate benefit package!
